Curiosity made me a writer.

When you’re younger, people like to tell you what they think you should be. My high school science teacher told me I should be an engineer because I was good at science and the field needed more women. My family told me I should be a doctor because it seemed like a stable career and…well, see the previous sentence. My university’s career services told me to become a foreign language teacher – okay, I was an International Relations/Spanish double major, so I guess that makes sense, but I believe teaching is a calling and it was not calling to me.

As you can see, I’m curious about a variety of topics and have loved learning about them all.

But all I’ve ever wanted to do is tell stories.

When the time came to decide on a career, curiosity got the better of me, and I applied to film school to see if I’d get in. I did.

I’ve been writing and creating ever since.

Once I started writing, people told me to find a niche: TV or film, advertising copy or website content, articles or personal essays, YA novels or science fiction. If you take a tour around this website, you’ll find I’ve written most of it. Or you can step into The T Salon to discover what else makes me curious.

Regardless of what I write, I do it with a love of language and a deep understanding of grammar, style, structure, and what makes content compelling.

So, what have I, as a writer, learned over the years? Take the time to listen to others, but don’t always take their advice. And always, always…

Stay Curious.
