Walking with Sam

If you want to know more about El Camino, I highly recommend Andrew McCarthy’s new book, Walking with Sam. For all of you Gen-Xers, yes, it is that Andrew McCarthy. He has been a travel writer for years and his writing is great. It flows easily and is insightful and thoughtful. He’s walked El Camino once before in his early 20s and this time, 20 years later, he decided to take his son who is now on the cusp of his 20s.

It’s a fairly quick read, gives a touching description of both El Camino and his relationship with his son. He’s not afraid to be open about his own flaws and his own vulnerabilities, especially when trying to navigate the transition that naturally happens when your child becomes your adult child.

I also think it would make a great holiday gift for anyone considering the El Camino or is a fan of Andrew McCarthy or simply wants a quick, enjoyable read.

So, keep reading and walking and . . .

Stay Curious.

A couple disclaimers: I am not a critic. I recommend what I like and talk about it. Also, I do not currently participate in any affiliate programs or get paid to recommend something on Featured Fridays. These are simply things that I enjoy and hope others will enjoy as well. Thanks for reading!
